Sophie Hirsch

Chief Physician of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Centre for Psychiatry South Württemberg in Biberach. She studied economics and medicine. In 2018, she received her doctorate for her thesis on evidence-based interventions for reducing coercive measures. As a research assistant, she contributed to the development of the German guidelines 'Prevention of coercion: prevention and therapy of aggressive behaviour in adults'. She also coordinated the nationwide PreVCo study (Prevention of Violence and Coercion) in Germany, which focused on implementing these guidelines. As lead author and member of the steering group, she is overseeing the update of the guidelines. Since 2024, she has been the physician responsible for the coercive measures register in Baden-Württemberg. She is a board member of the International Violence and Coercion Prevention and Reduction Group (EViPRG), serving as its treasurer. She is responsible for all matters relating to membership.
