EViPRG members: collecting and managing your personal data.

1.    Data collection


We collect the following data in order to manage your membership in the EViPRG network (during and after registration):

  • Name
  • Country
  • Email address
  • Contact number
  • Current role/job/position (including being an established academic, early career researcher, student, clinician, practitioner, advocate, person with lived experience, carer, etc.)
  • Specific interests linked to EViPRG topics
  • Current organisational affiliation (if appropriate)
  • Whether you are a student, an early career researcher (ECR) or person with lived experience (this is for the purpose of membership fee calculation)
  • Payment history (whether annual membership fee is paid)
  • Whether you have received any grantsor support from EViPRG
  • LinkedIn profile link or ResearchGate link (if you have one) or ORCID number (if you have one)
  • Your interests and activities (research and/or clinical and/or advocacy and/or lived experience) that relate to the understanding, prediction, management or prevention of violence and coercion (the EViPRG topics).

Your name and country are shared with all members subject to you providing informed consent.

All the other information is shared only with the EViPRG Board subject to you providing informed consent. You have the choice to consent to sharing your email address, your current job/role and specific interest linked to EViPRG topic with the other members of EViPRG.

Please note – EViPRG operates two platforms for their members: (1) a website (gated area/EViPRG members only access) and (2) a closed LinkedIn group. The EViPRG members’ website is the secure hub for governance, resources, and your membership profile. The EViPRG LinkedIn community is the space for discussion, networking, and sharing opportunities. Personal data and official documents are never shared via LinkedIn.

Data use and storage

The data will be stored on a secure EU-based server. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted storage, access controls, and role-based permissions limited to the Board.

The data will be used for:

  • understanding the network composition, e.g., who we are/where we are/what are our interests;
  • facilitating networking and collaboration between members; and
  • internal reporting, e.g., coverage across countries/organisations/settings.

Privacy Notice for EViPRG Members


This Privacy Notice explains how EViPRG (“we”, “our”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you become a member of our network. EViPRG is the data controller for your personal data. We collect information about you including your name, email, phone number, country, occupation, organisation, interests related to EViPRG values and purpose, professional profile link (e.g., ORCID, LinkedIn, ResearchGate) to: manage your membership in the EViPRG network; enable networking and collaboration with other members; understand members’ areas of expertise, coverage across countries and organisations, research and professional interests aligned with those of EViPRG; and share updates, events, and opportunities relevant to the network.

Payments are processed securely via Stripe, which acts as a data processor on our behalf. We do not store your financial details, but we collect information confirming payment of membership fees and whether you were sponsored by EViPRG.  

Our lawful basis for processing is consent. You provide this consent by completing the membership registration form and agreeing to this Privacy Notice.

Your data will be stored securely on servers located in the EU and will not be available outside the network. We do not share your personal data with third parties, except where legally required or with your explicit consent.

We will retain your data for as long as you are an active member of the network, after which it will be striped of any personal data and fully anonymised within 6 months. After 6 months your personal data will be deleted, and any remaining operational data will be fully anonymised so that it can no longer be linked to you.

Under data protection law, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request corrections to your data; request deletion of your data; withdraw your consent at any time (this will not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal); request that we restrict or stop processing your data; lodge a complaint with your national Data Protection Authority if you are concerned about how your data is handled.
